Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Personal vendettas, hidden treasure, and a monkey named Carl will send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most explosive adventure yet.

The Crime: Armed robbery to the tune of nine million dollars

Dom Rizzi robbed a bank, stashed the money, and did the time. His family couldn’t be more proud. He always was the smart one.

The Cousin: Joe Morelli

Joe Morelli, Dom Rizzi, and Dom’s sister, Loretta, are cousins. Morelli is a cop, Rizzi robs banks, and Loretta is a single mother waiting tables at the firehouse. The all-American family.

The Complications: Murder, kidnapping, destruction of personal property, and acid reflux

Less than a week after Dom’s release from prison, Joe Morelli has shadowy figures breaking into his house and dying in his basement. He’s getting threatening messages, Loretta is kidnapped, and Dom is missing.

The Catastrophe: Moonman

Morelli hires Walter “Mooner” Dunphy, stoner and “inventor” turned crime fighter, to protect his house. Morelli can’t afford a lot on a cop’s salary, and Mooner will work for potatoes.

The Cupcake: Stephanie Plum

Stephanie and Morelli have a long-standing relationship that involves sex, affection, and driving each other nuts. She’s a bond enforcement agent with more luck than talent, and she’s involved in this bank-robbery-gone-bad disaster from day one.

The Crisis: A favor for Ranger

Security expert Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, has a job for Stephanie that will involve night work. Morelli has his own ideas regarding Stephanie’s evening activities.

The Conclusion: Only the fearless should read Fourteen.

Thrills, chills, and incontinence may result.

1 out of 5 stars Farewell Ms Plum!   August 21, 2008
I loved this series of books. I wasn't very impressed with #13 and this one was even worse. My husband said he could always tell when I read a Stephanie Plum novel because I'd burst out laughing when reading. Very few laughs in 13 and none in this book. Janet Evonich has grown tired of her own character. It felt lazy and that she tried too hard to be funny, but missed the mark completely. I wouldn't recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars No disappointments here   August 19, 2008

Janet Evanovich continues to produce a fun and lively tale of the mishaps of Stephanie Plum. One would think that by the 14th installment, the story lines would get a little stale, but there are no disappointments with this rolicking tale. Evanovich continues to wrest laughter from the reader in spite of themselves as she takes our heroine from one implausible situation to another. Quite frankly, it is the side characters that continue to keep this series fresh and appealing. Fun and easy read. You won't regret the time spent.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing..   August 18, 2008

Having read other books by this author, I purchased this book with high expectations for a good summer read but what was grossly disappointed. The plot was too cute, oversexed, and boring. I only read it completely because I kept hoping that my opinion would change but to no avail. How could it possibly be on the best seller's list??

5 out of 5 stars Plum's keeps numbers going up   August 18, 2008

Stephanie Plum continues to find herself in and out of trouble. We listen to Janet Evanovich's most likeable family of "normal in the burg"
characters as we travel 4 hours up to the lake and back. The trip flys by and we are totally laughing much of the way
Consider following Stephanie from her first book adventure and on to fourteen.

4 out of 5 stars Evanovich is getting her groove back!   August 18, 2008

I've read all the books in this series and while Evanovich has really coasted for the last few, she seemed to make more of an effort this time. Though still not as good as the single-digit efforts, Fearless Fourteen was definitely an improvement over the last several. The storyline was more well-developed and the funny parts were, well, funnier. I loved the Lula-Turk sidestory and thought it was a great move. I think Ranger needs a honey (and I am kind of tired about reading about how mysterious he is....at this point, he seems one-dimensional, not mysterious). And let's face it, Steph's mom is an alcoholic, so that needs to be addressed. But all in all, I'm pleased that Evanovich is taking fame seriously enough to make an effort to inject new life into this series.
