Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The AQUOS LC-32GP3U-B is a dream come true for game players. This second generation LCD TV series is designed from the ground up to be optimized for today's state-of-the-art video games. The unique Vyper Drive game mode eliminates any perceptible lag between the video game and the TV display. Side-mounted terminals provide easy connections to game consoles. A custom remote control includes an innovative "Game" button that quickly jumps into Vyper Drive and activates the assigned input for gaming. Subwoofer audio output allows active subwoofer connection for a strong bass sound and a more powerful gaming experience. Five 1080p compatible terminals (3 HDMI inputs, 2 components) ensure the images from your game console's 1080p outputs will be as clear as possible. Finally, the GP3U's incredible 6 ms response time and 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, combined with full HD 1080p resolution provides superior picture quality.

5 out of 5 stars I never thought I would fall in love with a TV   December 24, 2008

Great TV. Easy to install. Easy to operate. My grandson loves the gaming features. And I couldn't believe it came in my favority color -- RED!

4 out of 5 stars very pleased with lucky choice   December 19, 2008

When I decided to get an LCD TV, I shopped on line a bit and settled on this one, thinking the Sharp name would be enough to ensure a decent product. I am more than pleased with my decision. The picture on this TV, even with just rabbit ears, is outstanding. The sound is excellent, too, which is something I was worried about with a flat panel; however, I was pleasantly surprised.

I chose this model because of the 1080 resolution and the cabinet style, which I think is the most attractive out there for TVs of this type. The base allows the panel to rotate about 110 degrees, which is very nice and not particularly common with these things. I bought the red one (it's really more burgundy, but that's hard to tell from the pictures), and am glad I got such a unique set; it matches my crib. The auto brightness feature is great, especially for a bedroom, where I use my TV. Setup was easy and virtually everything is pretty intuitive without having to read the manual.

The cons are: cheesy remote with cheap feel and poor key layout (I bought a Sharp blu-ray at same time, and it came with much more functional remote with better feel); the fact that you have to toggle thru inputs on remote (see other reviews); on-screen display of menu items is too small, although it is neatly laid out. Although it offers stereo audio and subwoofer line-level outputs, I don't like the switching on these. I want to use the TV's speakers along with my stereo; I can do this, but I am not able to control output level to stereo (stereo volume) from TV as switching to variable line level output on TV turns off the TV speakers, which I need for realistic sound staging. I know they did this because they think this is what most people would want, but not I. Seems like a simple firmware matter to offer one more selection for audio output configuration.

Overall, though, I'm highly pleased. For years I lived without a TV (by choice) and then with only rabbit ears. I've already tried the digital converter box (govt. cheese) on my old tube set and the reception was poor (unlike this TV, which is great with just rabbit ears). So I caved in and did what Big Brother hoped I would with the digital switch: bought a new tv and signed up for pay service, which I'm getting next month. Next year if I find I'm watching enough to justify it, I'll move this set to the kithcen/office and buy a bigger LCD for the bedroom, probably for less than what I paid for this one (about $860 from Amazon in early December 2008).

5 out of 5 stars The best 1080p and the best overall LCD....no comparison - hands down   December 14, 2008

This HDTV is provides the most vivid, stunning picture I have ever seen. I spent over 3 months shopping for a 32" true 1080p with very high contrast ratio and excellent overall picture. The only model that comes close to this is the similar Samsung DNIe in 32" class. This is my first HDTV and it is used a computer monitor, gaming monitor, and TV. It has so many inputs I could probably use it for 5 other things. The design is slim, the weight with the stand is only 40lbs. The picture is - flat out - unbeatable. Go to any major retailer and spend some real time and you'll know. There is NOTHING like AQUOS. Sharp knows the technology, and this is their flagship product. I recommend anyone shopping in the 32" class 1080p - spend the extra few hundred. It is NOT for the name. It is for the quality, and there are very few brands I can say that about. 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 6ms response time will show you the future of high definition LCDs.

5 out of 5 stars excellent product   August 31, 2008

Excellent product with good sound from the speakers in front. The LCD has the ability to recognise the active port and is capable of displaying PS3 games in 720p & 1080p when connected via HDMI. The regular DVD's also have better clarity and sound.

A good product for a person wishing to operate a gaming system on, highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Exceeded All My Expectations   July 25, 2008

Sharps AQUOS LC32GP3U exceeded all my expectations. After an intense education process about HD TV's. I knew I wanted a good picture (even with an antenna only) along with enough hookups and choice in hookups for my VHS, DVD, Games, etc.. Sharp really accommodated my main concerns without buying added equipment or cables for what I already had. This LCD really accommodates every hook up possible except DVI, the newer upgrade to HDMIx3 was not needed for my use because I'm not using this as a computer monitor. The ability to hook this up to a computer and use it for on-line use was also an appealing option. The swiveling base as also a nice feature as well as the slim design and extra side hookups for easy access for games camcorders etc. From the moment I pulled this out of the box to full set up it took less than twenty minutes. Very easy to work and I didn't need to rely on the manual or a professional to install my TV, as a single female I didn't need a strong man to pick it up for me either. I highly recommend this TV and may even purchase another one for my sons games. The only draw back is watching VHS, which is not set up for HD quality. Even liked the analog stations, but not as well as the HD. I am not disappointed at all.
