5 out of 5 stars Say goodbye to the crappy comic book store   April 8, 2008

This is great I don't have to go to the comic book store anymore and deal with that jerk who looks like the comic book guy on the Simpsons. Hopefully Amazon will offer more comic book subscriptions.

Issues, people. Come on! Ha..uh..seriously, is this thing on? Moving on.

My eyes beamed with excitement as I ordered a $24 subscription to DC Comics Green Lantern, and DC Comics gleefully accepted my money. No more snarky comic store jockeys; no more awkward moments with Guy-with-headphones asking if I like "Spi-do-mannn" while picking his belly button. Sweet vengeance is mine, and it's all thanks to awesome me and my awesome subscription to DC Comics Green Lantern. I jumped and clicked my heels together as I awaited my first issue.

My excitement tempered to moderate joy, but my head held high, for I am no ordinary comic fan-I am a subscriber. Behold.

Many moons have passed since Big Chief me ordered heap good subscription to DC Comics Green Lantern. Dusty cobwebs formed in my mailbox (which is strange, come to think of it). I am no longer special, I've become cynical, self-loathing...oh God! What have I become? According to DC Comics subscription specialist "Michele," my first issue is "on its way!" Sweet Jeebus! Awesomeness powering up.

I am broken. No comics. No tales of daring-do with my favorite childhood superhero (don't worry, Sean Connery, you'll always be #1 in my heart). My awesomeness championship belt has been stripped. After demanding "Michele" return my $24 subscription to DC Comics' Green Lantern, I received a credit of $12. "Michele" and I are no longer speaking. Oh, why do I push everyone away?

I returned to the comic shop. But this time, I'm ready. I've got my headphones and "Spi-do-mann" t-shirt.

I ordered a Superman subscription from DC Comics last year. 8 months later I had received one - yes only one - issue. I wrote DC and they sent out my second issue ASAP. 3 months after that, I was still waiting for my third issue.
