Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great little camera   December 16, 2008
Brieann Smith (Rhode Island)
The camera is good quality for the price. It can be removed from the little stand and hooked right onto the front of a laptop screen. Installation is very easy, just follow the directions (pop in the CD before you hook up the cam).

The only thing I'm bothered by is the lighting adjustment. If you're under bright fluorescent you should be fine, but it creates funny shadows and odd colors in dimmer light. It's certainly not something that would make me stop using it however.

1 out of 5 stars Mechanical Design Bad, Software Worse.   December 1, 2008

This would not install on my PC, which is a very generic Dell running Windows XP Pro. The user manual outlines a series of installation steps, but what actually happens when you follow the instructions bears no resemblance to what is stated in the manual. On about the fourth try the software went into outer space, never to return. Doesn't anyone ever test these products?

In addition, the camera itself is a small ball mounted on a VERY loose swivel joint with the VERY short USB cord coming out the back of the ball. Because of the short cord, it's difficult to position the camera at a reasonable distance from the user. And because of the loose swivel, it's simply impossible to keep the camera aimed where you want it, since the tiniest tug on the cord causes the ball to spin around backwards. The industrial designer who came up with this was obviously more concerned with making the thing look cute than actually having it work.

The greatest regret I have about this product: that is that I can't rate it the ZERO it so fully deserves.

4 out of 5 stars Good value for the money   October 14, 2008

I got more than I expected for the price I paid. The clip by which the camera is attached to the laptop is a nifty little thing--you can't see it in the picture. You do need VERY good lighting for a really clear picture, but I'd definitely recommend this webcam.

4 out of 5 stars Good-Not Perfect   June 14, 2008

Set-up was a breeze. My only problem with it is you need alot of light-natural light works best- to get a good picture.

4 out of 5 stars Best mount on any webcam I've ever seen   January 28, 2008

I'm always amazed at the absolutely ridiculous clips and contraptions that manufacturers put on webcams. I bought this one on a whim, and it's the only sensible one. The stand works well, and on the back is a spring loaded arm that nicely grips LCD monitors and laptops. The clip isn't visible in Amazon's diagram, but it's there on the back. The only troublesome bit is that the neck rotates easily and if you move your laptop then the cord will jar the camera to a different position and you have to move it back.

It only got 4 stars because the image quality is only "meh". It's not great, but it's on par with webcams in general.

I do wish the lens was a little wider. This camera makes good closeups but i'd prefer a wider view.

The software is little more than a driver, but that's a good thing. Less junk to slow your computer down and crash it.

It's a decent, simple, cheap camera that works without any gimmicks.
