Product Description DeLorme's Mapping Topo USA maps offer a variety of controls, including traditional push-button zooming, which drills in/out while keeping the map exactly centered. See the terrain in vivid detail using the 3-D map views and controls. These realistic views also retain the various elements you add to your trails, MapNotes, GPS waypoints and Draw objects. The split-screen framework lets you see 2-D and 3-D maps side by side, with linked Draw tools that move and update in tandem. The 3-D software engine has been completely rebuilt for this new version. DeLorme employs several powerful search capabilities within the software. Add your own images, live Web URLs, and diagrams and documents to the maps. Embed photos and diagrams showing fleet personnel what they will find at each location. Embed URLs next to your important stops on the maps for easy access when additional information is needed or updated online. New in this version, this easy-to-use program lets you link your digital photographs to a GPS log so you can see exactly where you took a picture along your trip. This handy toolbar runs along the top of the interface and offers access to commonly needed options, including GPS settings, the Measure tool, MapShare and Routing functions. Provide Field Crews with a Whole New View Western Region States - Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming System Requirements - Microsoft Windows XP or 2000 Service Pack 3 and higher, 128 MB RAM, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later, Intel Pentium III 600 MHz or higher processor, 700 MB free space, DVD-ROM Drive and 3D-capable video card with 32 MB VRAM

Topo USA 7.0 October 9, 2008 Mendi 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wish I had known what the graphics looked like before I bought this. When zoomed in, the topo lines are angular, not rounded. Lakes look like trapezoids. Hill tops have incorrect straight edges. The topo increments are at 50 feet instead of 20, so details about the land forms cannot be seen very well or at all. It is possible to order from the company USGS maps in little sections, which look good on the screen, but print out too blurry to use for competitions. The good aspects of the program is that they have helpful tech assistance, my GPS data can be transferred onto the map (I had to work with Garmin and DeLorme tech assistance to make it work), the 3D display is easy to use and interesting, the topo covers every state I would ever go to, and the navigating features work smoothly and are easy to use. If you do not need the fine details of a topo map, then it is useful, better than other programs that I have seen.
Delorme Topo USA 7.0 - West Edition February 8, 2008 Jason S. Foist (Colorado USA) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Initially the interface was somewhat challenging, but after a few uses it became routine. Lots of very cool features and with both 2D and 3D views in a split screen, it was very helpful. I'd heard good things from other hunters regarding using this for Game Management Units (GMUs) in Colorado and was happy to see the first time I started it up the tips noted there were downloads available - one of which where the Colorado GMUs specifically! Only issues so far: 1. Printed maps on inkjet are a bit fuzzy, better on laser - but either way even with the level of contour lines set to "High Detail" the fine lines are REALLY fine when printed out. Will look to navigate via the heavier lines I suppose. 2. While they (Delorme) have their own hardware device (PN-20) for direct compatibility of the maps in an ultra-portable solution - I've found options for creating maps in either Palm or Pocket PC formats... only to load them onto my Pocket PC and find there's not a recognized application included with this package or on the Pocket PC to actually open and view them. The only work around so far seems to be adding Bluetooth to my notebook PC so I can use the built-in GPS tab for navigating - not the most mobile solution after all. Other than those two "bumps", the on-screen maps are great and, again, the 2D and 3D views along with the fly-overs are excellent!
