Amazon.com Product Description Milwaukee's 8-inch panel saw is an ideal tool for lumber yards, because it offers a quick and easy solution to cutting up to 4 by 8-foot sections of sheet goods to size. This unique saw has a cutting accuracy to within +/- 1/32 inch and a material thickness capacity of up to 1-3/4 inch. The saw also features an innovative horizontal handle for convenient on/off saw operation as well as a 20 amp commercial-grade paddle switch for long life. The 6480-20's frame is made from tough, electrically welded steel to ensure it won't warp or twist. The powerful 15 amp motor is mounted on a carriage that moves horizontally with minimal effort on graphite-impregnated nylon roller bearings which require no lubrication. The saw can also be turned 90 degrees and fixed to make vertical cuts. Horizontal and vertical scales provide quick and accurate cuts. The workpiece can be loaded from either the left or right side and it gently rolls through the saw on a smooth acting roller mechanism. The panel saw is not recommended for ripping panels larger than 4 by 8 feet. The extension kit accessory, 49-22-8108, is recommended for cutting sheet goods over 6 feet long.

Milwaukee Panel Saw # 6480-20 April 22, 2008 First of all, what a tool! This is my 2nd panel saw from Milwaukee. The first one got damaged in delivery. It was the Thursday before Good Friday and no one was around back east where the saw originated. I called Milwaukee CPO here in California and they assured me the new saw would be on it's way ASAP and the old one would be picked up. It came about 10 days later in great shape. I set it up in about an hour or so and installed a set of wheels (get the wheels this saw weighs over 150 lbs. and moves like a load bearing wall...). I had a project involving t-111 and oak plywood (brooder boxes) and went right to work. Too easy. I wish I had had one earlier. I also have the extensions which I discovered I needed with 8' panels to stay accurate. I know there are less expensive ones (and plenty of more expensive ones) out there but it is a Milwaukee with a Milwaukee Saw Motor. A luxury for a small shop but a nice tool.Milwaukee 6480-20 15 Amp 8-Inch Complete Panel Saw System with 50-Inch Crosscut
Milwaukee panel saw. March 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Like all Milwaukee tools, this saw is simply the best. It is as accurate as you are, and doesn't even take up as much space as one would think. For anyone who has ever cut a 4x8 sheet of plywood on a table saw, you NEED to get one of these. I wasn't sure I needed it, but I wouldn't give it up now for anything. The only negative is that if you have it delivered, I recommend that you have at least two people to move it, it is pretty heavy. That being said though, it is very durable.

When you need a panel saw, nothing else will do, and though you can have sheet goods cut at the lumber yard, doing it in your own shop is a lot more convenient. This panel saw, according to my son, whose saw it is, is convenient and precise, more square than the original sheet goods, he says. That's enough for me.
